FAQ's
  1. How does our Glen Park SF Patrol Special Officer differ from a regular SFPD police Officer?

  2. What indication do you have that this program will work?

  3. How much do I have to pay?

  4. I think I can contribute $10 per month, but is that enough to participate? You mention $25 per month as the starting subscription rate.

  5. I already pay enough taxes for SFPD service. Why should I pay even more for safety service?

  6. Should we hire an Officer now, or wait until for better economic times?

  7. Will our Officer be just another security guard, or can the Officer actually arrest suspects?

  8. Would our Officer be on foot, on a motorcycle, a bike, or with a police vehicle?

  9. Do other neighborhoods other than the Castro/Upper Market, use this program?

  10. What happens if I can't pay my monthly fee?

  11. Does this Officer really provide a deterrent effect on crime?

  12. Would hiring our own Officer result in the SFPD cutting back police services to Glen Park?

  13. Why are you personally interested in the Patrol Special idea for Glen Park?

  14. Would hiring our own Patrol Special Officer look like some kind of "elitism" when other neighborhoods can't afford to hire one?

  15. Would having this program encourage complacency and discourage us from expressing our needs for adequate public services we should be getting (i.e., sufficient police) paid for by tax dollars?

  16. I've seen an awful lot of police cars in Glen Park after the August 31st incident. In fact, a patrol car is sitting outside on the corner right now. Don't we have enough police already?

  17. I live on an outlying Glen Park street. What if only a handful of houses on my street sign up but the great majority do not? Will we be able to participate in the program?

  18. What if all the merchants don't join in? Or most of the neighbors? Why should I help support a program that helps them out too, and they don't have to pay?

  19. I have heard stories about how 'wannabe' rent-a-cops have injured or even killed innocent people from an excess of zeal or as a result of poor qualifications. Are we at risk in Glen Park?

  20. I'm not sure that I like the idea of Glen Park looking like an armed camp. Is this such a good idea?

  21. I don't want this program to focus on any particular group or age such as youth, or engage in discriminatory treatment such as profiling. What assurance can you give me about that matter?

  22. I'm fairly interested in this program but not quite convinced about joining yet.  Can I join later?

  23. I used to read the Captain's daily crime reports but too much information makes me feel unsafe in my own home. So, I read it in moderation.
